"West Africa Hub" A Collaborative Approach to Creating Change"

The West African Hub Leadership Program was completed recently in The Gambia, from September 22nd to 27th. This initiative gathered female leaders from different West African nations with the aim of extending the Buzz Women program throughout West Africa. During the program, the participants participated in a week-long leadership trail, culminating in a boat excursion down the River Gambia to Kunta Kinteh Island, Previously known as James Island. This experience allowed the leaders to contemplate the common history of their forebears and the consequences of slavery on their societies.

The program's goal is to empower women in West Africa and other regions, acknowledging that a thriving West Africa hinges on empowered women. Women leaders from Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, and Ivory Coast were accompanied by the Gambian and Buzz Netherland teams to participate in learning and collaboration aimed at replicating the program in their own countries. The leadership trail included visiting training sessions on various modules, such as financial literacy and climate change, as well as visits to local community-based enterprises run by women.

The program also enabled interactions with important individuals, including Board Chairman Ousman Cham and the Management of Buzz Women in Gambia. In essence, the program seeks to establish a community of individuals driving positive change, dedicated to empowering women across West Africa. A special acknowledgement goes out to Buzz Netherlands for their support.
