Ukrainian women entrepreneurs continue to impress with their resilience and desire to develop the country's economy even in the difficult conditions of war. According to Opendatabot analysts, in 2023, women opened 154,000 new sole proprietorships and headed more than 10,000 companies. To support and develop these businesses, there is a project called Ukrainian Women Entrepreneurs Hub (U&WE Hub), which has helped more than 1346 women improve their management and financial skills in two years. Among the program participants are many internally displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes and relocate their businesses.
Liudmyla Sirko, a mother of five from Enerhodar, lost her business due to the war and now lives in Zaporizhzhia, where she has already developed a strategy for the development of a children's center using the knowledge she gained. Liudmyla Sirko is a lawyer from Enerhodar who moved to Delyatyn after the occupation and lost her business. She created the NGO “Family Circle / Public Expertise” to help IDPs, opened a humanitarian headquarters and a social canteen for IDPs. After moving to Zaporizhzhia, she continued to support communities by attracting grants for their recovery. Liudmyla actively helps IDPs and contributes to the restoration of the de-occupied territories.
Before the war, Liudmyla had a camp called “Azure Rainbow” on the shores of the Azov Sea, but due to the invasion, she had to leave everything in the occupied territories. But she didn't give up and opened an extremely cozy and safe project space for children in Zaporizhzhia. In this space, children can study with teachers so that their parents can work and support the country's economy. The space is safe because it is located in the basement.
